Cable Tracks & Cable Highway Systems

Cable tracks create a planned route for the cable across the deck. They help guide the cable between storage reels, spoolers, cable carousels, tensioners, linear cable engines, rollers, chutes and the overboarding point.

A cable highway system helps reduce uncontrolled cable movement during installation, recovery and deck transfer work. It also helps operators keep the cable route clear, supported and easier to manage during offshore operations.

OceanSi can design cable tracks around the cable diameter, cable weight, minimum bend radius, deck layout, support spacing, route direction and available deck space.

Track sections can be supplied as fixed, modular or removable units. They can include steel frames, roller supports, wear surfaces, guide plates, guards, access points and deck fixing arrangements.

Cable highway systems can be used for subsea power cables, fiber optic cables, umbilicals, wire rope and flexible products. They can support cable installation, cable repair, cable recovery and cable storage operations.

Cable Quadrants 

OceanSi Cable Quadrants are curved cable guiding systems used in offshore cable laying, subsea cable installation, and transpooling operations to control the routing of subsea power cables, fiber optic cables, and umbilicals during deployment and recovery.

The system consists of a large-radius curved frame fitted with roller assemblies that guide the cable along a controlled bend path, ensuring stable alignment and maintaining minimum bend radius (MBR) requirements throughout operation. This reduces cable stress, prevents over-bending, and ensures smooth transfer between deck equipment such as tensioners, winches, and overboarding systems.

OceanSi Cable Quadrants are designed in two standard configurations with 6.0 m and 7.0 m quadrant diameters, selected based on cable type, stiffness, and offshore installation requirements. The structure is engineered for integration on cable lay vessels and offshore construction vessels, with handling options for winch or crane-based operation and deck rail travel systems where applicable.

Cable Chutes 

OceanSi Cable Chutes are overboarding cable handling systems used in offshore cable laying and subsea cable installation to guide subsea power cables, fiber optic cables, and umbilicals from vessel deck to seabed during deployment and recovery operations. The chute is designed with curved profiles typically in the range of 3.0 m and 4.0 m bend radius, allowing controlled cable descent while maintaining minimum bend radius (MBR) and reducing mechanical stress throughout the installation process.

The system is engineered to handle offshore cable installation loads up to 15 tons or 20 tons depending on configuration, ensuring stable performance under dynamic tension conditions. Cable movement through the chute is continuously supported to prevent excessive bending, surface abrasion, and uncontrolled cable motion at the vessel overboarding point. In some configurations, the system may also integrate electric motor-driven operation with variable speed control to synchronize with cable lay speed, along with tension control and multi-bobbin wrapping capability for protective cable handling.

OceanSi Cable Chutes are used in offshore wind farm cable installation, submarine power cable projects (HVAC/HVDC), fiber optic cable laying, and subsea umbilical operations in oil and gas developments. They are installed on cable lay vessels, offshore construction vessels, and barge-based spreads where controlled overboarding and stable cable guidance are required during offshore operations.

Cable Rollers

OceanSi Cable Rollers are mechanical cable support components used in offshore cable laying and subsea installation operations to guide subsea power cables, fiber optic cables, and umbilicals during movement across vessel decks and installation spreads. They are designed to support controlled cable transfer by allowing the cable to travel over rotating roller elements instead of fixed contact surfaces, reducing friction and surface wear.

In cable lay systems, rollers are positioned along routing paths and transition zones where cable movement must be controlled, such as between tensioners, cable tracks, quadrants, and overboarding chutes. They help maintain alignment of the cable during deployment and recovery while ensuring smooth passage through changes in direction and elevation across the deck layout.

Cable Rollers are used in offshore wind cable installation, submarine power cable laying (HVAC/HVDC), fiber optic cable deployment, and subsea umbilical handling in offshore oil and gas projects. Typical configurations include straight rollers for linear guidance, V-rollers for cable centering, and corner rollers for directional routing, depending on installation requirements and cable handling conditions.
